1. What Luca is
Luca is a shopping assistant for dog owners. The service learns your dog's profile — breed, age, health conditions, dietary needs, and preferences — and generates weekly shopping carts optimized for price across multiple retailers. Luca covers food, treats, supplements, toys, grooming supplies, and other pet products.
Luca is not a retailer. We do not sell products, hold inventory, or fulfill orders. When you approve a cart, Luca directs you to third-party retailer websites (such as Chewy, Amazon, Walmart, PetSmart, Petco, Costco, Target, and Tractor Supply) where you complete your purchase directly with that retailer. Your transaction, payment, shipping, and returns are governed by that retailer's own terms and policies.
2. Not veterinary advice
Luca provides shopping recommendations based on your dog's profile information. Luca is not a veterinarian, veterinary nutritionist, or medical professional. Our recommendations are based on general nutritional guidelines, product data, and your stated preferences — not on a clinical evaluation of your dog.
If your dog has a medical condition, food allergy, or special dietary needs, consult your veterinarian before making changes to their diet based on Luca's suggestions. Luca always defers to veterinary guidance and will note when a veterinary consultation is recommended.
3. Accounts
To use Luca, you must create an account with a valid email address. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
You may create profiles for up to 5 dogs per account. The information you provide about your dog should be accurate to the best of your knowledge — Luca's recommendation quality depends on the accuracy of your dog's profile.
4. Subscription and billing
Luca offers a free tier and a paid subscription tier (Luca Pro). The free tier includes limited features as described on our website. Luca Pro is available at the prices listed in the app at the time of purchase.
Subscriptions are billed through Apple's App Store or Google Play, depending on your device. Subscription management, renewals, and cancellations are handled through your device's app store account settings. Refund requests are subject to Apple's or Google's refund policies.
5. Pricing and product information
Luca aggregates pricing data from multiple third-party retailers. While we make every effort to display accurate, up-to-date pricing, we cannot guarantee that prices shown in the Luca app will exactly match the prices on retailer websites at the time of your purchase. Prices can change at any time and may vary based on your location, retailer account status, or promotional availability.
Product information, including ingredients, nutritional data, and recall status, is sourced from retailer data feeds, manufacturer information, and the FDA recall database. While we strive for accuracy, we recommend verifying product details on the retailer's website before completing your purchase.
6. Affiliate relationships
Luca earns affiliate commissions from some retailers when you purchase products through links in the app. These commissions are paid by the retailer and do not affect the price you pay. Our full affiliate disclosure is available at lucafordogs.app/disclosure.
7. Recall alerts
Luca monitors the FDA pet food recall database and attempts to alert you when products in your dog's profile or shopping history are recalled. However, Luca cannot guarantee that every recall will be caught immediately, or that our recall data is comprehensive. You should not rely solely on Luca for recall information. The FDA's official recall page at fda.gov/animal-veterinary/safety-health is the authoritative source.
8. Your content and data
You retain ownership of all content you provide to Luca, including your dog's photos, profile information, and purchase history. By using the service, you grant Luca a license to use this data solely for the purpose of providing and improving the service as described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Luca to resell products commercially, scrape or extract pricing data for use outside the service, attempt to access other users' data, or interfere with the operation of the service. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
10. Limitation of liability
Luca is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that pricing data will be perfectly accurate at all times.
Luca is not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to: adverse reactions your dog may have to recommended products, price discrepancies between Luca and retailer websites, missed or delayed recall alerts, or any issues with orders placed through third-party retailers.
Our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid to Luca in the 12 months preceding the claim.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
