How Luca earns revenue
Luca earns revenue in two ways: subscription fees from Luca Pro users, and affiliate commissions from retailers when users purchase products through links in the Luca app or on the Luca website.
When you click a link to a retailer (such as Chewy, Amazon, Walmart, PetSmart, Petco, Target, or Tractor Supply) from the Luca app or from our website and make a purchase, the retailer may pay Luca a small commission. This commission is paid by the retailer as part of their affiliate program — it does not increase the price you pay. You pay the same price whether you reached the retailer through Luca or by visiting their website directly.
How this affects our recommendations
It doesn't. Luca's product recommendations are driven by your dog's profile (breed, age, health conditions, dietary preferences, allergies), price optimization across all available retailers, nutritional analysis, recall status, and your historical purchasing behavior.
We do not prioritize products or retailers that pay higher commissions. The entire point of Luca is to find you the best price — recommending a more expensive option because it earns us a higher commission would undermine our core value proposition and your trust in the product.
Some retailers in our comparison set do not have affiliate programs (Costco, for example). We include them anyway because showing you the actual best price — even when we don't earn from it — is more important than our commission revenue.
Amazon Associates disclosure
Luca is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
